In July 2025, Kit Birks will embark on a world-record-breaking solo trek from Nordkapp, Norway, to Gavdos Island, Greece—an 8,500 km journey spanning the length of Europe. Walking through snow-capped mountains, dense forests, and sun drenched coastlines, she aim to push the limits of endurance, carrying everything needed to survive and documenting every step of the way.
This journey isn’t just about breaking records. It’s about breaking the silence surrounding mental health. She is walking for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and AuDHd, two charities dedicated to preventing suicide and supporting those struggling with their mental health.
For Gordon’s owner Simon Gordon, the decision to support Kit is deeply personal: “I’ve known Kit since she was little, and to see her now, turning pain into purpose in this way, fills me with pride and emotion,” said Simon. “Having lost two brothers to suicide, I know the devastation it leaves behind. Kit is walking for all of us who’ve been touched by that grief, and I’ll be cheering her on every step of the way.”
Kit’s decision stems from her own personal battle with mental health and her wish to raise awareness, to create real change, to break the silence, to show the power of vulnerability and honesty, honour the lives of those who we have lost to suicide and to show that there is life on the other side of our darkest moments.
In Kit’s own words: “It does get better. It gets good again. And no matter how lost you feel—there is always hope. I know it might feel impossible but with one step, one at a time you will find yourself back in the light again. And go on to do things you never dreamed possible.”
Join the journey. Follow along. Let’s stride beyond silence—together.
