As we come to the end of this very summery summer we thought we’d reach out to keep that holiday feeling going.
On our specials board we have two exceptional Hungarian white wines lined up to go this September. First up we have Megyer Tokaji Hárslevelu 2014. A dry Tokaji with a medium body perfect for easy drinking. With notes of honey, followed by orange and garpefruit flavours it boasts a creamy richness and fresh acidity and a slight salty finish.
We are also very excited to have a wine from a very young and up-and-coming young winemaker star, Krisztina Csetvei. A passionate artisan her wines are handpicked, organic wines, with natural fermentation.
ZV Zold Veltlini, Gruner Veltliner, is a vegan wine from the Mór region harvested in 2021. Hand picked, aged 80% in oak barrels and 20% in stainless steel with no added yeast so that spontaneous fermentation may occur, it is just the ticket for those conscious about the planet and curious about rediscovered winemaking techniques.
The wine is full-bodied, bright and intense with notes of grapefruit, green apple, passionfruit and crushed stone minerality. Butterscotch and flinty with a beautiful lingering salinity and a hint of chestnut honey.
If wine is not reason enough to visit we have picked our top events around the area, definitely worth a visit with a much need pit-stop by Gordon’s.
The Cedar and The Sea: A multi-sensory tour of Two Temple Place, promises to unlock the history and celebrate the craftsmanship at the heart of the neo-Gothic mansion. Running Thursday 8 September and Friday 9 September with sound, smell and visual effects to truly immerse yourself within the building.
The National Gallery has plenty of events and exhibitions on, including Friday Lates with drop-in drawing sessions. Get your creative juices flowing with a glass of wine before, and maybe a celebratory well done glass after too?
Definitely not to be overlooked is St Martin in the Field with its very active crypt! From Cabaret to Silent Discos it promises plenty of fun or for a more sophisticated night there are plenty of classical music events by candlelight in the church itself.
As always we look forward to seeing you all very soon!
